Elli Ingram – Fun

Elli Ingram Up In Smoke

“I was so wasted / champagne and rose / the sun was high when we got home”

In the most stripped back track from her debut E.P, Elli recounts a night out with friends with only a piano to accompany her. This allows her vocals to really soar over the truly beautiful melody.

Cyril Hahn – Perfect Form (feat. Shy Girls)

“So tongue tied, I don’t even know my lines / Tongue tied, I don’t even see the signs”

Cyril Hahn’s first official release is everything you want it to be, its soulful, its sexy and its a perfect blend of R&B and electronica, simple perfection.

Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo – Signs (feat. Janai) (Sunshine Mix)

“Do you see the signs? / They’re telling me to keep it going”

Hannah Wants & Chris Lorenzo are becoming quite the production machine when it comes to massive house tracks right now. ‘Signs’ is less bass heavy than the duo’s usual style and shows a alternative side to their talents. Just in time for Ibiza season, this one will soundtrack sunsets all summer.

J£ZUS MILLION – Illusions Of (feat. Charli XCX)

“I wanna be the centre of your whole world”

After he produced several tracks on her debut album, here we see Charli XCX lend her vocals to 19 year old producer J£zus Million on his debut single ‘Illusions Of’. As we’d except Charli XCX’s vocal style is laid back and her lyrics playful, the production style in contrast is deep, layered and in times hectic in all the right ways.

Drake – The Motion (feat. Sampha)

“Looking back on it at least my pride is in tact / ’Cause we said no strings attached / And I still got tied up in that”

I’ve been a little disappointed with Drake’s offerings of late, that is until now. Here he smashes his signature sound of heartfelt lyrics and credible hip hop. Blend this in with instantly recognisable and loveable vocals from Sampha and you have a guaranteed Drake hit.

Lorde – Tennis Court

“We’re so happy even when we’re smiling out of fear”

The hype surrounding Lorde could make you reluctant to get on board at first, understandable. Once upon a time I felt the same concerning Lana Del Ray, I dug my heels in, ignored her and subsequently missed the boat, something I’ve kind of regretted ever since, so be warned. With a vocal style that could actually be compared to LDR (with a sprinkle of Metric’s Emily Haines on top) Lorde’s sound has a depth and maturity much older than her 16 years, but when coupled with such fresh and snappy production we’re presented with some really forward thinking pop music.
