Disclosure – Help Me Lose My Mind (feat. London Grammar) (SOHN Remix)

Disclosure_3

“Talk to me and watch me crumble / You will see me come undone”

If anything could make Hannah Reid’s (London Grammar) vocal shine anymore on ‘Help Me Lose My Mind’ than it already does its this stripped back, minimal and rhythmic edit from SOHN.

The edit will feature on the soon to be released remix version of Disclosure’s debut ‘Settle’, which will also include contributions from Kaytranada, Joe Goddard, Hudson Mohawke, T. Williams, Wookie and more.

CLEAN BANDIT – RATHER BE (FEAT. JESS GLYNNE)

CLEAN BANDIT

“If you gave me a chance I would take it / Its a shot in the dark but I’ll make it”

I haven’t been a massive fan of Clean Bandit previously. Infact I’d go as far as saying that their breakout single ‘Mozarts House’ annoyed the hell out of me. So when a friend of mine recommended latest single ‘Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne)’ to me it took me a good week to get round to listening. Seriously though, I am SO GLAD I did. Probably the most infectious and uplifting track I’ve heard in forever, this was made for the summer, or, conveniently for many, when you need dragging out of that end of year depression

BIPOLAR SUNSHINE – DROWNING BUTTERFLIES (KIDNAP KID REMIX)

BIPOLAR

“You’re all in my blood and you leave / Taking my heart from my sleeve”

Kidnap Kid’s take on Drowning Butterflies is so different you can barely recognise Bipolar Sunshine’s original track. Is this a bad thing? Not at all, Kidnap Kid executes the remix to his usual standard, his deep bass and infectious percussions compliment the looped original vocal perfectly. Another Black Butter smash, check.

WARPAINT – BIGGY

WARPAINT

“Her heart, her heart, her heart / Believe in love”

The second offering from Warpaint in advance of their second album, due in January next year, is a gentle affair. Soft percussion and strong vocal harmonies make hitting repeat on this track the easiest decision.

Sam Smith – Money on my mind

sam-smith-eyes-closed

“I know what that requires / I’m not foolish”

Fresh from the news that he has made the longlist for the BBC’s Sound Of 2014, Sam Smith drops new single ‘Money On My Mind’. Its a catchy track and a little more upbeat than what we’re used to with his solo material. As always, Sam’s vocal range is extraordinary, fingers crossed he doesn’t turn into a vocal gymnast or should I say Jessie J in future.

MNEK – READY FOR YOUR LOVE (GORGON CITY REFIX)

MNEK

“I’m ready for my heart to let you through”

MNEK has sprinkled his refix magic over his track with Gorgon City and the results are outstanding. Gorgon City’s track has gained a ton of radio support and is being banged out in pretty much any decent club across the country. MNEK slows it down and makes it that little bit more sexy as only he seems to know how, file this under February 14th.
