Disclosure – Help Me Lose My Mind (feat. London Grammar)

lg

“You help me lose my mind / And you believe something I can’t define”

One thing Disclosure are incredible at (actually, is there anything they aren’t incredible at?) is picking the right vocalists to guest on their tracks. Previously working with immediately distinctive and talented artists such as Sam Smith, Jessie Ware, AlunaGeorge and Eliza Doolittle has proved very successful so far and with their latest cut from their debut album its the same story.

London Grammar’s vocalist Hannah Reid is one of the most promising vocal talents in the up and coming music circuit right now and hearing her combined with Disclosure is the stuff that dreams are made of.

CHVRCHES – Gun

chvrches

“Who are you to tell me / How to keep myself afloat / I tread the water all the while / You stuck in the knife that you held at my back”

If anythings going to make you want to clap your hands and punch the air whilst singing the chorus at the top of your lungs, its the latest gem from Scottish three piece CHVRCHES. The lyrics are darker than you’d expect when listening to Lauren Mayberry’s sugary sweet vocals making it the ultimate summer break up tune if you find yourself needing one. This is synth pop at its absolute best.

Joel Compass – Fucked Up

joelcompass970600

“Who’s this is in our bed? / Why she still asleep? / How do I ask her to leave? / Oh shit she’s calling me”

Fan of The Weeknd and fancy exploring some homegrown UK RNB? Then Joel Compass may be the man for you. ‘Fucked Up’ tells the story of a man who has seemingly destroyed his relationship by ending up with another girl. After already receiving attention from the likes of Radio 1′s Zane Lowe, there is no disputing that Joel has a bright future ahead.

Angel Haze – No Bueno

AngelHaze

“This situation is below me / I’m your fuckin motivation, bitch you owe me”

Unlike other female rappers that have surfaced in the last 18 months or so (no names mentioned) Angel Haze has the ability to back up her hype with an impressive catalogue and clear cut talent and delivery. After a chain of mixtapes and EP’s ‘No Bueno’ is set to be the first official release from her debut album and if this is anything to go by, its going to be everything I’d hoped.

BANKS – Warm Water

130304-banks-new

“I think I may love you / If you give me some time / Maybe you’ll love me too”

I discovered LA vocalist Banks through the Triple J Hitlist on Spotify a few months ago now (it featured her absolutely flawless track ‘Before I Ever Met You’) and I haven’t looked back since. Production honours on ‘Warm Water’ go to the genius that is Orlando Higginbottom (TEED) and its a perfect fit in terms of collaboration. If its possible to completely lose yourself inside a track then this is the one to do it to.

Katy B – What Love Is Made Of

Katy_B

“And I could stay like this for days / Looking at your beautiful face”

Back with an official release thats just as infectious as anything on her debut album and seemingly with an even bigger voice, Katy B has still got the ability to make the masses dance. The follow up to the Danger E.P needed to sound big after ‘Aaliyah’ and ‘Light As A Feather’ reasserted her position as dance music in the UK’s female lead and it has not disappointed.

Jacques Greene – On Your Side (feat. How To Dress Well)

jacques-greene

“You came to me, you spoke the truth and set us free / But love don’t come and go”

Combine Tom Krell’s (How To Dress Well) insane vocal range with the kind of infectious, pulsating house beat that only Montreal producer Jacques Greene can conjure up and you’ve got yourself some house music perfection.

Released June 3 digitally and July 1 on 12″ via LuckyMe.
