HOMESICK – FEELIN’ ME, FEELIN’ YOU

homesick-640

‘Baby are you feelin’ me? I’m feelin’ you’

There seems to be an endless amount of classic RNB flips or reworks jamming up the internet right now but every now and again if you sift through long enough you’ll find one so good and so unique that it actually takes you a little while to work out what the sample comes from. This happened to me with HomeSick’s (AKA Shaun McHale) take on Alicia Key’s ‘Feeling U, Feeling Me (Interlude)’ taken from her second album ‘The Diary Of Alicia Keys’. In short, this track is pretty irresistible.

KATY B – LITTLE RED LIGHT

“Got your little red light on, flashing like a warning sign”

Katy B’s dropped an exclusive new track ahead of her set at Notting Hill Carnival and its pumped full to the brim with carnival vibes. Its a free download too so get your paws on it and hype yourself up in time for the weekend.

JESSIE WARE – SAY YOU LOVE ME

‘I don’t want to fall in love, if you don’t want to try’

Jessie Ware just full on knocked it out of the park with her latest single, debuted tonight on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show. ‘Say You Love Me’ is both hopeful and heartbreaking at the same time. Her vocal is flawless as always and she brings a touch of class that is so lacking in music of current times. Simply put, a stunning single.

ELLA EYRE – COMEBACK

ella-eyre-brand-new-nav

‘We’ve all been played, we all get hurt / Just take that pain and let that motherfucker burn’

Don’t be put off by the first bar sounding like Cee-Lo Green (apologies if you’re a fan), as soon as Ella Eyre’s instantly recognisable vocal kicks in, we’re in a different ballpark. Firing singles out at high speed like she’s in a shooting range, ‘Comeback’ shows yet another string to Ella’s genre bow. Vocally raw, brutally frank lyrics and a hint of girl power that Mel C & crew would be proud of, the debut album just became even more of an essential purchase upon release.

JAWS – SWIM

‘In my dreams I swim away with you’

Birmingham four piece JAWS are back with another track fit to soundtrack your summer night dreams. With elements reminiscent of Ou Est Le Swimming Pool mixed with The Cure, JAWS feel like one of the most original and promising indie bands out their right now.

Their debut album ‘Be Slowly’ is due on 15th September via Rattlepop and check out the dates for their longest headline tour to date in support of that release.

WAYWARD – SPEAK ON IT

wayward

‘Speak on it babe / Tell me what do you need’

The A-Side to Wayward’s recently shared ‘Belize’, coming on Black Butter Records in September. Featuring vocals from Beth Aggett, ‘Speak On It’ is infectious to say the least and leans hard on that classic 90’s house sound.

BEN HOWARD – END OF THE AFFAIR

‘Now I watch her / Running ’round in love again / Now I talk about you / When I’m with our mutual friends’

Now I may be feeling a little sensitive after returning from a soul destroying (yet incredible) trip to be Ibiza… Or this could actually be the most beautiful and heart wrenching track I’ve heard in a very long time. Seeing as the track in question comes via the welcome return of Ben Howard, I’m going to place my bets on the latter.
